
According to a study published in the June issue of Journal of Periodontology, patients with rheumatoid arthritis are more likely to have periodontal disease. This could be due to the fact that having rheumatoid arthritis, one is unable to properly care for their teeth and gums. Both diseases are systemic inflammatory diseases which may explain the connection between the two.
